Cinnamon and Honey: The Most Powerful Remedy Even Doctors Can’t Explain

Cinnamon has a powerful insulin-boosting quality that provides energy to the body while regulating blood sugar levels. Additionally, honey is a rich source of natural sugars and trace amounts of antioxidants, enzymes, minerals, vitamins, and amino acids, which combat fatigue and re-energize the body.

Digestive problems

Honey and cinnamon treat digestive problems such as ulcers, constipation and nausea, and fight E. coli and H. Pylori infections.

Natural Acne Treatment

Cinnamon and honey have been used for centuries to treat acne and skin conditions as they offer strong antibacterial and antimicrobial properties.

Cinnamon has been found to kill Staphylococcus epidermidis, the type of bacteria often responsible for acne, and honey has been used as a cosmetic product since ancient times. It also soothes burns and wounds, dandruff and psoriasis, prevents wrinkles and improves skin health.

To combat acne, mix 1 tablespoon of raw organic honey with a teaspoon of cinnamon and apply the paste to the affected area. Leave it on for 20 minutes and then rinse.

Gingivitis

Honey and cinnamon can do wonders for your oral health. Researchers found that chewing/sucking on a Manuka honey product resulted in a 35% decrease in plaque and a 35% decrease in bleeding sites in people with gingivitis.

Finally, Becky Bell, MS, RD, advises:

“The best way to use honey in your diet is as a sugar replacement. Make sure to buy unfiltered honey, as most highly processed supermarket honey has no health benefits. Use honey with caution, as it still contains a lot of sugar – it’s just “less bad” than regular sugar.

You should also be aware that cinnamon contains a compound called coumarin, which can be toxic in high doses. The coumarin content is much higher in Cassia cinnamon than in Ceylon cinnamon.

It is best to buy Ceylon cinnamon, but if you are considering consuming the Cassia variety, limit your daily intake to 1/2 teaspoon (0.5 to 2 grams). You can safely consume up to 1 teaspoon (about 5 grams) of Ceylon cinnamon per day.
